Wendy Greuel In The 2013 Los Angeles Mayor’s Race: For A Community That Can’t Afford To Pick Wrong Again
The 2013 Mayoral Election takes a significant step next Tuesday as the community gets a chance to narrow the field for an office primary which has no incumbent. The office of Mayor is being vacated after tolerating eight years of a Mayor who took the black vote for granted, exploited the community and forgot who his friends were.Los Angeleschanged significantly in the past eight years. The Christopher Dorner Episode May Be Over-But The Questions He Raised Remain
One of the most tragic and horrifying episodes in the recent history of our city, state and nation has come to an end…or has it? The national manhunt for ex-LAPD officer, Christopher Dorner, came to an end in a fiery shootout on Big Bear Mountain. There was nothing pretty about this at all. It started ugly and ended uglier. You can’t blame her for everything…she probably had a little incentive after the Inauguration thing. So she probably cracked the voltage up a few notches. She’s a … Continue reading
Why The Time Is Now For Immigration Reform: The Negative Politics of Migration Shifts (Straight Outta Compton)
President Obama called this week for the Congress to deal with Immigration reform as a high priority for this year’s legislative agenda. He said “The time is now for immigration reform.” The time’s been now for immigration reform. Nobody had the courage to take it on. What make’s “now” the time? Political reality for the Republicans. Political insurance for the Democrats. Immigration reform is going to be an ugly fight, particularly when the discussion as to what should come first, the chicken or the egg? The chicken is twelve million immigrants that are already that will have to get in … Continue reading
